NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY ANNOUNCES EOS.WEB AS ITS FIRST INTEGRATED LIBRARY SYSTEM (ILS)

EOS International manages extensive collection of unique bibliographic records

(Carlsbad – January 12, 2009) Leading library services and knowledge management company EOS International announced the installation of its EOS.Web solution at National Portrait Gallery located in London, England.
EOS.Web is National Portrait’s first ever ILS.

National Portrait Gallery chose the EOS.Web solution in order to make its library’s catalogue available remotely over the World Wide Web, improve the ability to provide useful linkages between bibliographic records, and to adopt a system for cataloguing that would be interoperable with the mainstream of professional library practice elsewhere in the English-speaking world.

EOS.Web simplified the cataloguing and tracking of bibliographic records exponentially. “We can easily add additional copies to bibliographic records, specify holdings and relate item-specific information with a degree of granularity previously unavailable to us.” - Joseph Ripp, Staff Librarian at National Portrait. He later commented, “For the duration of our relationship with the company, we have found EOS staff uniformly pleasant, helpful and professional… We continue to believe that we have implemented the best integrated library system available for our purposes.”
